This week was my birthday. I had two very cool memories pop up in FB. The first was that on my birthday, 8 years ago, my boss called me to offer me a full time job. I’m still there, although our company was bought by another company. I still enjoy what I do and the people I work with.
The second memory was from my best friend in college. It was a post from 2012 where she reminded me about a great story from college. Not long after we met each other, she was going through her scrapbook and found a clipping of a poem that she had saved because it spoke to her. She showed me the poem. Turns out I was the author. She had always wanted to meet me and before she had even realized, we were becoming the best of friends.
I love this story of how God connected two young ladies from across the world, one from Louisiana, the other from Nigeria via a poem and a Baptist University in Arkansas. (I scanned a copy of my clipping below)
I’m reading through my Mom’s Bible this year, rediscovering some notes I’d read before, and discovering others. This one was dated about 11 months before she died.

Lyric I’m thinking on
From Michael Card: The Final Word
“You and me, we use so very many clumsy words The noise of what we often say is not worth being heard When the Father’s wisdom wanted to communicate His love He spoke it in one final perfect word”
Miscellaneous of Note
Uncle David gave me an early birthday present of going to the Impressionist exhibit at MFAH. I’ve always loved the impressionists. Renoir, in particular is a favorite. I could almost feel the breeze in my face and hear it rustling through the leaves in the pic above.
I’m trying something new this year. I got the idea from someone else and I like it because it lines up with one of the Enneagram Type 5 traits that I have of being a collector of information. I had so many comments when I shared about the books I read this year that I decided it might be fun to share in this brief way what I’ve been thinking on/reading on each week. It makes me happy to have an archive and anyone who wants to follow can be updated too. So here goes my first “issue” of e5 Download
